State Mobilization / Wildland

Mobilization Program

Snohomish County Fire Protection District No.22 (Getchell Fire) participates in the Washington State Mobilization Program.  The State Mobilization Program is a state wide system utilized to deploy fire suppression resources to any fire district in the state that becomes overwhelmed by a catastrophic fire emergency. Fire District 22 regularly deploys personnel and equipment during the summer months when wildfires spread out of control and threaten structures and endanger lives.

Tremendous Honor

The opportunity to respond and assist other fire districts throughout the state is a tremendous honor for our Firefighters.  The experience gained fighting wildfires in a much drier climate provides a high degree of confidence for our members that typically encounter much smaller brush fires in Western Washington. The opportunity to work within a large scale incident command system is also extremely beneficial to the members of our department.

Equipment Fund

When resources are deployed on state mobilization incidents the Washington State Fire Protection Bureau compensates the responders and the fire district for the equipment deployed. The fire district has greatly benefited from these alternative revenue streams.  Those dollars earned on state mobilization go directly back into our capital equipment fund to purchase new fire and emergency medical service apparatus.
